Getting the App
Your Free Time is distributed through the Apple App Store (or TestFlight during beta). Search for Your Free Time by Lutarea on your iPhone or iPad.
The App requires iOS 17.0 or later on iPhone and iPad. Home screen widgets and the shared SwiftData store use the App Group group.com.lutarea.yourtime. The optional Apple Watch companion requires watchOS 10.0 or later and is embedded in the iPhone App listing.
Common topics
- Free Time dashboard — weekly free-time hero, weekday and weekend donut charts, plan vs fact bars, day report pager, ideal comparison, What-if scenarios, and optional share card export.
- Activities — plan sleep, work, meals, commute, and custom blocks for weekday, weekend, or every day; reorder, edit minutes, per-weekday overrides, paired activities, focus sessions, manual time logs, and activity time reports.
- Plan vs fact — log actual minutes via focus timers or manual entry; compare planned and logged time over a day or longer range; optional retention limit for old entries in Settings.
- Calendar import — under Activities, import events from Apple Calendar as new activities (read-only calendar access is requested when you start import).
- Your data stays on the device — the live SwiftData database is local and shared with the widget via App Group; it is not synced to Lutarea servers or CloudKit. To move data to another device, use JSON backup export and import.
- JSON backup (export / import) — under Settings → Backup & restore, export creates
your-time-backup-…jsonfiles (schema version 3: activities, settings, weekday overrides, time entries, and saved preferences). When iCloud is available, exports go to iCloud Drive → Lutarea BACKUPS → Your Free Time Backups (containeriCloud.com.lutarea.backups). Under Backup location you can Choose folder… or Reset to default folder. If iCloud is unavailable, the App may fall back to a local sandbox folder until iCloud or a custom folder is available. - Widgets — optional home screen widgets show free-time summaries from the App Group snapshot; add widgets from the iOS widget gallery.
- Focus sessions — start a timer from an activity; optional Live Activity on the Lock Screen while a session runs; completed focus time is saved as a time entry.
- Apple Watch — the companion shows today's free time and supports quick logging; the iPhone App persists data.
- Weekly reminder — optional local notification summarizing weekly free time; enable in Settings.
- Shortcuts — Siri Shortcuts and App Intents can query free time or log minutes using on-device data (
yourtime://deep links open specific tabs or log flows). - Security — optional app lock (passcode and Face ID / Touch ID) in Settings.
- Language and appearance — nine interface languages (English, Ukrainian, German, Italian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, French, Czech) and System / Light / Dark / Slate Indigo themes in Settings.
- Onboarding and reset — first-launch wizard helps set up activities; restore defaults or clear data from Settings where offered. Uninstalling the App removes local storage on that device; manage JSON backups in Files separately.
Reporting a problem
When you email support, include your iOS version, App version (Settings footer), and steps to reproduce. Screenshots help. For backup or import issues, note whether iCloud was available, whether you use a custom backup folder, and the backup filename if known.
