This Privacy Policy describes how Lutarea ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the mobile application Your Free Time (the "App") for Apple iOS and iPadOS, including optional home screen widgets, Apple Watch companion, and Siri Shortcuts. The App uses the bundle identifier com.lutarea.yourtime; the widget extension uses com.lutarea.yourtime.widget; the Watch companion uses com.lutarea.yourtime.watchkitapp.
1. Summary
Your Free Time stores your schedule and time-tracking data on your device using SwiftData in a shared App Group (group.com.lutarea.yourtime). The live database is not synced to Lutarea servers or to Apple CloudKit. When you export a backup, the App may write JSON files to iCloud Drive → Lutarea BACKUPS → Your Free Time Backups (Apple's shared container iCloud.com.lutarea.backups on your Apple ID) or to a folder you choose in Settings; Lutarea does not receive the contents of those files on its own servers. We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App.
2. Data we process
Depending on how you use the App, categories of information may include:
- Activities and schedule — activity names, icons, colors, weekday/weekend scope, planned minutes per day, per-weekday overrides, paired activities, categories, and sort order.
- Free-time calculations — derived totals for weekday, weekend, and weekly free time based on your plan; What-if scenarios and dashboard preferences you save locally.
- Time entries (plan vs fact) — logged minutes per activity and day, source (focus session or manual log), optional notes, and related metadata for historical tracking.
- App settings — theme, language, which days count as weekend, onboarding state, weekly free-time goal, weekly reminder toggle, quick-log defaults, time-entry retention, and similar preferences stored locally.
- Calendar import (optional) — if you import from Apple Calendar via EventKit, the App reads event titles, dates, and durations only after you grant calendar access and confirm the import; Lutarea does not receive your calendar on its servers.
- Focus sessions and Live Activity (optional) — when you start a focus timer, session state is kept on device and may be shown in a Live Activity on the Lock Screen; no Lutarea server receives session data.
- Security settings (optional) — app passcode preference and Face ID / Touch ID lock; biometric templates are handled by iOS, not sent to us.
- User JSON backups — when you export, the App writes files named like
your-time-backup-….jsoncontaining activities, settings, weekday overrides, time entries, and saved preferences (current schema version 3). Backups may go to the shared Lutarea iCloud container or a custom folder you pick. Backup files are not encrypted by the App; protect them like any personal document. - Home screen widgets (optional) — the App writes a limited on-device snapshot (for example today's free minutes and activity summaries) into the App Group for the widget extension. Widget content may be visible on your home screen without opening the App.
- Apple Watch (optional) — the companion reads a summary from the shared App Group and may send quick-log actions back to the iPhone App via WatchConnectivity; data is persisted on the phone.
- Local notifications (optional) — if you enable the weekly free-time reminder, the App schedules notifications on device; no Lutarea push server is used.
- Siri Shortcuts and App Intents (optional) — shortcuts you add may query free time or log minutes using on-device data; no separate Lutarea account is required.
- Share export (optional) — when you share a free-time card image from the dashboard, rendering happens on device and uses the system share sheet you initiate.
- Diagnostics visible to Apple — if you opt in to share analytics with Apple as part of your device settings, Apple may collect crash or usage diagnostics according to Apple's policies.
3. Purposes and legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar)
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on appropriate bases such as:
- Performance of a contract / steps at your request — providing the App and features you enable.
- Legitimate interests — securing the App and improving stability, where not overridden by your rights.
- Consent — where required for optional permissions (calendar, notifications, biometrics), as managed by iOS.
4. Storage and retention
Core data is stored locally with SwiftData in the App Group shared between the App, its widget, and related extensions on the same device. We do not operate a Lutarea cloud database for your schedule or time logs.
Retention is controlled by you: delete activities or time entries in the App, adjust time-entry retention in Settings, export backups you manage, or uninstall the App. JSON backups in iCloud Drive or elsewhere remain files under your control until you delete them.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by:
- Apple — App Store, device security, WidgetKit, App Groups, WatchConnectivity, Live Activities, iCloud Drive for optional JSON backups, EventKit when you import calendar events, local notifications, Siri Shortcuts, and biometric lock.
- Law and safety — if legally required, subject to applicable law.
6. International transfers
Because core App data stays on your device, international transfer issues mainly arise if you store exported backups in iCloud or another cloud service you use. Those services are governed by their own terms.
7. Security
The App supports optional passcode and biometric lock. You are responsible for keeping your device, passcode, and Apple ID secure. JSON backups you export are your responsibility to store safely.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing. Much of this can be done in the App or by managing exported files. Contact us at the email below for privacy requests.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under the age where parental consent is required in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy; the "Last updated" date above will change. Additional notice will be provided where required by law.
