Getting the App
Your Cookbook is distributed through the Apple App Store (or TestFlight during beta). Search for Your Cookbook by Lutarea on your iPhone or iPad.
The App requires iOS 17.0 or later on iPhone and iPad. Optional home screen widget and Live Activity use the App Group group.com.lutarea.yourrecipes. The optional Apple Watch companion requires watchOS 10.0 or later and is embedded in the iPhone App listing.
Common topics
- Recipe book — create and edit recipes with ingredients, steps, categories, duration, and servings; mark favorites; add recipes to the Cook Today queue; search and filter; collections for grouping recipes.
- Cooking — step-by-step mode (all steps on one page or one step per swipe); cooking timers and sessions; shopping list built from recipes you cook; menu plan for upcoming meals.
- Photos — attach photos to steps and recipe covers from camera or photo library; photos sync with iCloud when CloudKit sync is enabled.
- iCloud sync (CloudKit, optional) — turn on Settings → iCloud sync when signed into iCloud. The App syncs SwiftData records through Apple CloudKit in container
iCloud.com.lutarea.YourRecipes. Lutarea does not receive a copy on its own servers. Sync requires iCloud on each device. - Backup (export / import) — under Settings → Data, use export and import. When iCloud is available, exports are saved to iCloud Drive → Lutarea BACKUPS → Your Cookbook Backups (shared Lutarea container
iCloud.com.lutarea.backups). Files are named likeyour-recipes-backup-….zip. Under Backup location you can Choose folder… or Reset to default folder. If iCloud is unavailable, a local fallback path may be used as shown in Settings. Import supports merge or replace; very large files may be rejected for safety. - What backup includes — recipes (with ingredients, steps, and embedded cover photos), collections, and menu plan entries. Active shopping list items and in-progress cooking sessions are not included in the backup format; use CloudKit sync across devices for live data where available.
- Share Extension — share a web page URL from Safari or another app into Your Cookbook to start recipe import (
yourrecipes://import). - Widget and Live Activity — add the Cook Today widget from the Home Screen gallery; Live Activity may show the current cooking step while you cook. Tapping opens the App.
- Apple Watch — view the current step and control timers from the watch; the iPhone App persists data and CloudKit syncs when enabled.
- App lock — optional passcode and Face ID / Touch ID under Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Language — the App supports multiple interface languages via in-app settings (including English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Czech, and Slovak).
- After an app update — your library stays on the device; updates do not intentionally erase it. If data looks missing, try Import from Lutarea BACKUPS or a saved backup file, or contact support with your App and iOS version. Export backups regularly, especially before major updates.
Reporting a problem
When you email support, please include your iOS version, App version (from the App Store or TestFlight), and steps to reproduce the issue. Screenshots or a short screen recording help. For import or sync issues, mention whether iCloud sync is on and whether you use a custom backup folder.
